Barnsley manager David Flitcroft has walked into a family “feud” after drawing Premier League Champions Manchester City in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals.
The Reds will travel to the Etihad Stadium to face the 2011 winners on the second weekend of March but he probably won’t be getting cheered on by his family.
David’s brother, Garry spent five years at Manchester City between 1991 and 1996, scoring 13 times in 116 appearances and both David’ nephews have joined Garry in becoming City fans.
David, 39 who has now led Barnsley to seven wins from his nine games in charge told the national press:
“Gaz’s lads will be wanting to knock us out of the cup so I wont be speaking to them for a few weeks.
The club deserves the opportunity to go and try to cause a cup upset. This is a cup of dreams and heroes. I hope we give a good account of ourselves.”
