Andy Ritchie has confirmed that The Reds are to set to sign trialist goal-keeper Kyle Letheren on Thursday.
Letheren, 18, is a Welsh U21 international and was released by the team Barnsley defeated to reach the Championship last season, Swansea City.
Letheren has impressed both Ritchie and goal-keeping coach John Lukic whilst on trial but Ritchie has stated he doesn't feel Letheren is quite ready to be number two yet and hopes to have a more experienced keeper in also by Thursday so that he can be registered in time for the Championship kick-off against Cardiff City on Saturday.
Meanwhile Barnsley finish their pre-season programme with a home friendly against Premiership Wigan Athletic tonight.
The match kicks off at 7:45pm and the match is Pay On The Gate only with prices at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
