Forest Fire Catches Calderwood

Nottingham Forest became the fifth Championship club to change their manager this season after the dismissal of Colin Calderwood just minutes after a potentially damaging 4-2 home defeat to Doncaster yesterday.

Calderwood led Forest to promotion last season after they had spent three years in League One but they have struggled to adapt to life back in the Championship. They were on a run of one win in 16 when Barnsley came to the City Ground at the end of November and typically Forest won 1-0. Forest have won just once in the five matches since however and the 4-2 hammering by fellow strugglers Doncaster (it was 4-0 with 25 minutes remaining and was the first time Donny had scored more than once in a match all season!) proved to be the final straw and Calderwood was dismissed last night.

He leaves Forest 22nd in the league, one point from safety.

QPR, Charlton, Blackpool and Watford are the other teams to change manager this season.

Meanwhile former Barnsley managers Danny Wilson and Gudjon Thordarson have taken new jobs in League One. Wilson, who was sacked by Hartlepool less than two weeks ago has taken over at Swindon whilst Thordarson who has been out of work since 2006 has taken over rock bottom Crewe.
