Captain Stephen Foster and youngster Luke Potter have pledged their futures to Barnsley Football Club after signing new deals this weekend. Foster, who made his 121st appearance in the 1-0 win over Blackpool today has penned a two year contract, whilst the length of 20 year old Potter’s extension has yet to be confirmed. Potter, who has enjoyed loan spells at Kettering and Stafford Rangers came through the ranks at Oakwell and made his Reds debut in the 7-0 defeat at West Brom on the final day of the 2006-2007 season. He has since gone on to make five senior starts, including in the magnificent 2-0 win at Cardiff last weekend. He was, perhaps harshly, dropped for the Blackpool game and replaced by Ryan Shotton who returned from suspension.
Meanwhile striker Jay Rodriguez will return to Burnley after his one month loan deal came to an end today. Rodriguez, 20, scored with his first touch in a Barnsley shirt- coming off the bench to net the final goal in the 4-1 win at Preston but made only one start - in the 3-1 home defeat to Plymouth, plus four other substitute appearances. He was not even on the bench for the Blackpool game.
