Barnsley have today rejected a bid of £1.5m for young full-back John Stones from Premier League side Fulham.
Despite the Reds lowly position in the Championship relegation zone, 18 year old Stones has been a shining light after scoring on his first start in the 4-3 Capital One Cup victory at Rochdale back in August. He has been called up to the England Under 19 squad making two appearances, and that has led to a host of Premier League clubs chasing him.
Now Fulham boss Martin Jol has made the first move by submitting a bid of £1.5m, but the Reds have swiftly rejected it. Everton, Southampton and Wigan are believed now to be interested and all could table an offer this month.
If Stones was to secure a move, Barnsley are likely to ask to keep him at Oakwell for the rest of the season.
