Barnsley have opted against keeping temporary goalkeeper David Gonzalez now Ben Alnwick has served his suspension.
The 31-year-old Colombian was signed to cover for the injured Luke Steele and the suspended Ben Alnwick.
He has started each of the Reds' three league games so far this season and has conceded eight goals, including 5 in Saturday's demolition at Brighton.
Reds general manager Don Rowing told the Sheffield Star:
“It’s unlikely we’ll be keeping David for any longer,”
“With the transfer window shutting on Friday it’s only fair that he has the opportunity to join other clubs.”
Rowing also revealed the club had not received any more bids from Crystal Palace for sought-after winger Matty Done.
