West Ham United have completed the signing of Reds striker Ricardo Vaz Te for an undisclosed fee.
It was reported that the Reds turned down a bid from the Hammers last night but they have come back with an improved offer, rumoured to be around £1.5m, which has been accepted.
Vaz Te travelled to London to talk to West Ham this morning, and has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the East London outfit.
The 25-year-old Portuguese striker has netted 12 goals in all competitons for the Reds this season but his contract is up at the end of the season so Keith Hill appears to have cashed in on his prized asset.
Vaz Te thanked the Barnsley fans following his no doubt, lucrative move to the Hammers, but Reds boss Keith Hill said the move could come back to haunt the Portugal man. He spoke to media following the Reds' 3-2 win over Derby tonight:
"West Ham have got a very good player who was a football ghost at the start of the season, sometimes players take what they want rather than what they need and he needed to stay here.
"But he decided to go and I hope he doesn't become another football ghost. He's got a lot of talent, but maybe just a bit-part player down there.
"But we didn't suffer without him, we scored three goals again. It's history now, it's over and we move on."
Vaz Te's new club were demolished 5-1 at Ipswich tonight.
