Reds midfielder Steve Hayward has been ruled out of the Stockport County match after spending the night in hospital.
Steve fractured a rib and suffered a collapsed lung after falling during a practice match.
Hayward is now in a stable condition but will be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Barnsley physio Rob Magnusson told the club's official website: "Steve landed chest first on a heel during a practice game,".
"He suffered a broken rib and had difficulty breathing so we rushed him to hospital by ambulance.
"He had an X-ray which showed his lung had partially collapsed but was stable. He has now been discharged from hospital."
