Heinz In Fulham Heartache

Heinz Muller's season ending knee injury scuppered his move to the Premier League! It has just been announced today that the giant German is likely to be out for six to nine months but it is believed he was on the verge of a move to Fulham.

Muller was set to join Roy Hodgson side in a move that would see The Reds earn around £1.5m plus Tony Warner. This also explains why Warner has only joined on a 28 day loan. Due to Muller's injury Fulham refused to allow Warner to join permanently unless Barnsley stumped up a fee. Something the club were unwilling to do.

Reds Physio Richard Kay has revealed Muller will definitely miss the rest of the season and will have surgery in Germany.

He told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"It looks as though Heinz (Muller) has done some very serious damage to his anterior cruciate ligament. There is also some damage to his lateral meniscus.

"The MRI scan was a little cloudy because of all the blood in the area so we are unsure as to whether Heinz has ruptured his cruciate or not. Whether it is a total rupture or a partial tear will determine what the surgeon does this week and could potentially effect how long he is out for.

"Heinz will definitely be out for between six and nine months. That is the best and worse case scenario and a lot of it depends on any complications with his surgery and how well he comes through the rehab programme.

"To be honest we will probably know more and even more specifics after the weekend but it will be a long term injury.

"Heinz will have an operation in Germany on Thursday and it is looking as though he will be out for between six and nine months. Heinz has decided to undergo the surgery over in Germany because he has his family around him there and he knows the surgeon.

"We have consulted with our specialist here and he has recommended that Heinz sees the surgeon in Germany. He is a world renowned surgeon who works with the top Bundesliga and German players. Heinz is fully comfortable with that.

"Heinz is doing a lot better now and he has got over the initial shock of a sustaining a long term injury. He is focussed and he can see a timescale now that he can work towards.

"He knows the problems and knows how long it will take to be back playing".

Finally Barnsley have seen Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Lewin Nyatanga join up with their respective international sides.

Campbell-Ryce who suffered an injury in the first half of Saturday's 4-0 drubbing at Coventry has joined up with Jamica who host Costa Rica in a friendly on the 6th February whilst Nyatanga has joined with the Wales side who host Norway in a friendly on the same day.
