Barnsley boss Keith Hill has confirmed the TykesMad exclusive from last Friday that he has attempted and been thwarted in his attempt to bring Penistone lad Mark Beevers to Oakwell from Sheffield Wednesday.
The Reds lodged a £200,000 bid for the Hillsborough trainee last week but as Hill today confirmed to the Star, Wednesday said no.
“We made an offer to Sheffield Wednesday, but they came back with a straight ‘no’,” Reds boss Keith Hill revealed to The Star.
“Mark Beevers is a very talented player and someone I’d love to sign, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like we’re going to be able to do a deal.
“I’m disappointed, but at the same time at least we got a 100 per cent ‘no’ which means I can move and try and find other players. That’s business and you have to move on. He’s a skilful player and still developing, but it looks like he’ll be a Sheffield Wednesday player next season.”
