Barnsley boss Keith Hill has revealed he has been thwarted in his attempts to bring new blood into the club before the visit of early season pace-setters Blackpool.
Hill has been shorn of up to 12 first team regulars so far this season but has managed to galvanise his side to pick up six points from the first four matches.
And the Reds gaffer has admitted he has tried to recruit a new addition this week but ridiculous wage demands meant a deal could not be struck.
Speaking to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk the 43 year old said:
“We’ve tried to sign a player but we’ve fallen short. We thought we had a player yesterday but we didn’t get the go-ahead. I’ve been in touch with a player who hasn’t got a club at this time, but demands are quite ridiculous and unreasonable.
We offered a very, very good player an opportunity but we got turned down. The player himself would not consider the type of money we had on offer.
I find it quite amazing that there are players who are turning down offers.”
