Barnsley boss Mark Robins has revealed he is set to loan out £1.2m striker Iain Hume as the Canadian struggles to nail down a place in the team.
Hume, 26 was signed by former manager Simon Davey in the summer of 2008 and quickly became a fans favourite with his terrific work-rate and his eye for spectacular goals. His season, and indeed life was turned upside down in the November of that year however when his skull was fractured at the hands, or rather elbow of Sheffield United’s Chris Morgan. This took Hume out of the game for nearly a year and he has struggled to find his form since returning.
The departure of Davey and arrival of Robins has not helped his cause either with the former Manchester United striker starting Hume just 16 times in the 46 games he has been in charge and he left Hume out of the matchday squad completely last weekend.
Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"Iain's not getting any games here, so it might be right that he goes out on loan,"
"I'll keep an eye on his frustration and hope it doesn't boil over."
"He wasn't in the 18 last weekend and will be rightly disappointed. We will be talking to him on a daily basis."
