Hume To Miss Blackpool Trip!!!

£1.2m striker Iain Hume could be set to infuriate his new supporters by putting country before club and missing this weekend's trip to Blackpool.

Hume is currently away with the Canada squad for crucial World Cup Qualifiers against Honduras and Mexico.

The Canadians who have only qualified for a World Cup once before in their history lost 2-1 to Honduras at the weekend where Hume came on as a substitute in the 22nd minute and then was subbed himself after 85 minutes.

This means Canada must beat Mexico on Wednesday to stand any change of qualifying to the next stage of the CONCACAF tournament as they lie third in their group behind Mexico (who have won both their games) and Honduras with only the top two going through.

And this has major implications for Barnsley as Hume is now likely to start against the Mexicans on Wednesday (less than 72 hours before the Blackpool game) because Tomasz Radzinski is struggling with a finger injury.

With the match being played in Mexico it means a staggering trip back to England on Thursday and could put him in major doubt for a crucial Championship game at Bloomfield Road.

Meanwhile a strong Reserve side is set to line up against rivals Leeds United on the Oakwell Academy pitches tonight at 7pm.

Heinz Muller, Marciano Van Homoet, Hugo Colace, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Miguel Mostto all start the game but Anderson De Silva is still a week or two away from returning.

BARNSLEY: Muller, Van Homoet, Potter, Branson, Atkinson, Colace, Campbell-Ryce, Butterfield, Adam, Mostto, Lazarus.
Subs: Taylor, Grundy, Fearnehough, Watts,Letheren.
