Barnsley are facing a major injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s trip to Watford.
Winger Jim O’Brien has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing a cartilage in his knee which will be operated on this week whilst an even bigger worry is that the club’s first choice central defensive pairing could both be missing at Vicarage Road if not longer.
Both Martin Cranie and Peter Ramage went off early in last night’s 3-0 defeat to Leicester with hamstring injuries with the extent of the damage not yet confirmed.
Reds boss Danny Wilson said:
“Jim is going for an operation on Wednesday with a cartilage tear, as for Martin Cranie and Peter Ramage, we’ll just have to keep tabs on them. Hopefully they will not be out for long.”
Paddy McCourt stepped in for O’Brien last night whilst Jean-Yves Mvoto and Lewin Nyatanga slotted into defence, although Frenchman Mvoto struggled with the pace of the Foxes Jamie Vardy and was at fault for two of Leicester’s three goals.
