The season has been over just over a week and already the transfer rumor mill is in full swing, but the first name getting heavily linked with Barnsley is Conrad Balatoni.
The 24-year-old Partick Thistle defender has been with the Jags since 2010, helping them win promotion to the Scottish Premiership in 2011-2012 and then steer clear of the relegation zone for the past two seasons.
After progressing through the academy at Hearts, Balatoni initially joined Partick on loan for the 2010-2011 campaign making 23 appearances as the Glasgow out finished fifth in Division One.
This saw another season long loan for 2011-2012 where he played 26 times and secured a permanent move that summer.
It was Balatoni’s first campaign as a fully fledged Partick player that he really made his name, playing 33 times and scoring six goals as they romped to the title, finishing 11 points clear of second placed Morton.
Originally hailing from Leeds, Balatoni could be set for a return to his home county and a crack at English football with his Partick contract expiring this summer and he has so far rejected talk of a new deal.
