Barnsley will face Altrincham FC for the first time ever next month after the two teams were paired together in the first round of the 2015-2016 FA Cup.
Altrincham are currently 18th in the National League (or Conference in old money) after winning just five of their 18 games so far this season. They qualified for the first round of the FA Cup by beating Chester 1-0; the side that ironically Barnsley faced in the second round of last seasons’ competition and needed a replay to defeat.
The Robins were eliminated in the first round last season, 4-1 at Blyth and that was their first foray to that stage since the 2007-2008 campaign- when Barnsley reached the semi-finals.
The tie is likely to be played on Saturday 7th November.
