James Bailey has today left Oakwell by mutual consent to “pursue other football opportunities"
Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson made 26-year-old Bailey available for transfer in May after just one season, along with Milan Lalkovic, but whilst Lalkovic agreed a move to Walsall, Bailey was unable to tie up a deal with another club so both parties have agreed to terminate his contract, which still had a year to run.
Originally signed by Danny Wilson, Bailey made 29 appearances for the club.
Meanwhile former Barnsley captain Martin Cranie has agreed a move to Championship outfit Huddersfield Town.
Johnson surprisingly released the 28-year-old defender this summer after 122 appearances and three years at Oakwell. He has now signed a one-year deal with the Terriers.
