Young striker Nathan Jarman has returned to the club after an unsuccessful loan spell at League Two Bury.
Jarman made only two appearances for the Shakers after being sent off on his debut.
Bury boss Chris Casper told the Official Bury Website:
"Andy Ritchie has called him back to Barnsley as I couldn't promise him first-team games after our recent performances," said Chris Casper.
"It's only fair on Nathan to let him go back to Barnsley"
Meanwhile Andy Ritchie has insisted that if Jacob Burns does go to Polish champions Wisla Krakow it wont be for nothing.
He told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"They want to sign him but they'd have to come up with something like a good deal for ourselves.
"We wanted to allow Jacob the chance to go over because if he's to play in the World Cup he needs to be playing at a level of the Championship or above so we were trying to be good to him. But he's a good player and has done well for us and we'd like him for our run in.
"To let him leave for nothing at this stage would be a bit remiss of us. The deal is not dead in the water though."
