A current Barnsley loanee, and two former players have been included in England Under 21 manager Stuart Pearce’s preliminary 40 man squad for this summer’s European Championships in Denmark.
Full back cum winger Kieran Trippier who is currently on loan at Oakwell from Manchester City is in along with current Wolves man Adam Hammill, who moved to Molineux from Oakwell for £500,000 in January and Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez who spent a month’s loan at the Reds in February 2010.
Pearce will cut his squad down to 23 on June 1st in readiness for the tournament which starts 10 days later.
Meanwhile newspaper reports today claim that Barnsley boss Mark Robins is sending his academy players to a summer camp at the gym of boxing trainer Brendan Ingle to “beef them up” for the 2011-2012 season.
