Barnsley’s No.1 goalkeeper Luke Steele has signed a new two year contract extension to tie him to the Oakwell club until 2013.
The 26 year old is just eight appearances away from hitting a century with The Reds and, despite, being suspect with his crossing and kicking at times, has kept 22 clean sheets, including in each of the last three games and is most famous for his Man of the Match debut performance in the 2-1 FA Cup victory at Liverpool.
The former Manchester United trainee lost his place in the side for much of the 2008-2009 season but has missed just four matches in the last season and a half.
Reds boss Mark Robins told BBC Sport:
"I'm pleased that we've extended his contract so he's got two-and-a-half years from today."
