Barnsley have added to the capture of Chelsea striker Alex Kwiomya with another forward with Stamford Bridge connections.
22 year old Milan Lalkovic has arrived at Oakwell today on an 18 month contract following his release from Czech side FK Mlada Boleslav.
Lalkovic spent his formative footballing years with Kosice-Barca and MFK Kosice in his homeland of Slovakia but was snapped up by Chelsea at the age of just 15 in 2007.
He spent seven years with The Blues but failed to make a single first team appearance spending time on loan at Barnsley’s South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster in 2011 (six appearances), ADO Den Haag in Holland in 2012 (two appearances), Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal in 2012-2013 (eight appearances) and then back in England at Walsall for the entirety of last season where he bagged six League One goals in 42 games, including on his debut in a 3-1 win over Tranmere.
Seeking regular first team football on a more permanent basis Lalkovic who has been capped at three different levels for his country, Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21s, decided to leave West London in the summer of 2014 when his contract expired and he joined Czech First League side FK Mladá Boleslav.
However he made just two appearances for them and had his contract terminated before completing his move back to England and to Oakwell.
Wilson told the club’s official website:
"Milan has a great pedigree and he adds pace and guile to our team. We're all looking forward to working with him."
