Reds boss Gudjon Thordarson has admitted he's keen to sign former Preston keeper Tepi Moilanen.
The Finnish international has been released by Preston and had been thought to be on his way to Hearts where he spent a period on loan last season.
"I have spoken to Tepi and we will have to wait and see but at the moment we are not in a position to sign anyone, although we still have to plan for next year," Thordarson told the official Barnsley website.
"Nothing is decided and I hope to speak with several goalkeepers in the coming weeks."
Meanwhile, Reds keeper Matt Ghent who was thought to be joining Macclesfield Town this week (after turning down a short-term contract with the Reds) could stay and try to impress the new management team after failing to agree personal terms with the Silkmen.
