Alex Mowatt has today committed his immediate future to Barnsley FC after signing a new contract until the summer of 2020 with the option of a further year.
The 23 year old has netted two goals and provided six assists so far in 2018-2019 whilst starting every league game and completing all but two.
This has been a real breakthrough season for Mowatt who had an auspicious start at Oakwell following a January 2017 move from Leeds United in which he was sent off 42 minutes into his debut in a 3-1 defeat to Wolves.
He would then appear in the first league game of 2017-2018 (a 3-1 defeat at Bristol City) and the 4-3 EFL cup win over Morecambe before departing on loan to Oxford United for the rest of the season.
In total Mowatt has so far made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times and providing six assists.
