There could yet be more arrivals to Barnsley's Championship squad before the transfer window closes as Bristol City's Grant Smith has joined on trial and The Reds have confirmed their interest in Brighton and Hove Albion's "Coca Cola Kid" Colin Kazim-Richards.
Firstly Smith who has also had spells with Wycombe, Reading, Hearts, Livingston, Clydebank, Sheffield United, Halifax, Plymouth and Swindon before joining City will train with The Reds this week to see if he impresses Andy Ritchie and Rick Holden.
The big news though concerns Kazim-Richards who was the first player to be signed through money won through the Coca Cola Win A Player competition in the summer 2005 and was thus dubbed the "Coca Cola Kid".
He was signed from League Two Bury where he had scored three goals in 31 appearances. He netted six goals in 47 appearances for the Seagulls last season but couldn't stop them being relegated from the Championship.
He has had a written transfer request turned down by Brighton boss Mark McGhee but has apperaed only once this term.
