A Barnsley club source has today insisted that Polish winger Tomasz Cywka has NOT rejected the offer of a new contract at Oakwell but that the offer was withdrawn by the club themselves due to the former Derby man taking too long to decide.
The 25 year old was one of only three players offered new deals by the club this summer.
Stephen Dawson has rejected the terms offered to him whilst the club is still waiting to hear back from Jim O’Brien.
It had been suggested that Cywka, who has scored nine goals in 66 appearances for The Reds had also rebuffed the club’s advances but the Star reports today:
“There’s no truth in the reports that Tomasz Cywka rejected his contract, the club withdrew it’s offer to him because he had taken too long to decide”
O’Brien has until close of play tomorrow to decide whether he will commit his future to the Oakwell outfit.
