Ward who has been on trial with The Reds this past week has now gone to Brammal Lane so Neil Warnock can check him out.
Ritchie has swooped for another keeper however by taking Wales U21 shot-stopper Kyle Letheren.
Letheren was released by Swansea in the summer and will travel with the squad to Boston tonight.
Letheren has made one apperance for the Wales U21 side.
