Reds Shot-stopper Nick Colgan has been called up to Steve Staunton's Republic of Ireland squad for the second time in a row. The ROI have two important Euro 2008 Qualifiers coming up in October against Cyprus and the Republic of Ireland and with Newcastle' and Ireland No.1 Shay Given out injured, Colgan will be hoping to make at least the 16 man team.

Colgan was called up for Ireland's Euro 2008 Qualifier against Germany back at the beginning of September but failed to make the match day squad.

Speaking of Colgan, and he will miss Saturday's home match against Luton after he was handed a one match suspension following his red card in the defeat to Preston.

Striker Daniel Nardiello has failed to win a call-up for the Wales squad. Nardiello who is yet to feature for The Reds in the Championship after fracturing his collarbone during pre-season, but Nads, who scored on his return for the Reserves last week, was a shock rumour to be included in John Toshack's squad for the games with Slovakia and Cyprus after a striker crisis but Toshack decided against calling him up.

And finally some good news on the injury front. Bobby Hassell has returned to training after limping off in Friday's defeat to Preston. There had been some worrying looks from the stands when Hassell, who was excellent at the back, had to be withdrawn with 6 minutes remaining. Reds boss Andy Ritchie told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk "Bobby will be fine. He trained yesterday and has worked with us again today so there will be no problems for the weekend".
