Barnsley winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce has fully proved his fitness after an elbow injury by being called up to the Jamaica squad for next month's World Cup Qualifiers against Mexico and Honduras.
Jamaica like Iain Hume's Canada are in danger of missing out on the 2010 World Cup as they lie bottom of Group Two in the North, Central America and Caribbean section with one point from three games.
Campbell-Ryce has won seven caps for Jamaica and is in line to face group leaders Mexico on 11th October and second placed Honduras four days later. Both games will be played in Kingston.
Meanwhile two Barnsley strikers are on the road to recovery after injuries.
On loan Dutchman Maceo Rigters who suffered a hamstring injury in August has missed The Reds last five matches and will also miss the next two against Norwich and Ipswich.
But he is in line to face South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers on the 4th October.
Reds physio Matt Konopinski told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"We still have Maceo with us but we are expecting him to be back training with the rest of the group in ten days. He is coming along well but we do not want to push him too hard.
"Maceo had a problem with his hamstring last season which took a little while longer to heal than first expected so we do not want to risk any further injury by rushing him back too soon".
Fellow striker Michael Coulson is also on the mend after rupturing his cruciate knee ligaments at the end of last season. The 20 year old will be out until the New Year but the signs are positive. Konopinski continued:
"Michael is coming along well after his operation. His progress will be limited by time now. He still has to wait and work through his rehab protocol as set by the specialist and that will be frustrating for him".
