Oldham Athletic have today taken the controversial step of moving season tickets to grant Barnsley a 3,000 allocation for Saturday’s match.
The Oakwell Box Office has been inundated with requests for tickets following the Reds fine run of five successive wins and five successive clean sheets.
There is also added spice to the game as Barnsley’s new “Head Coach” Lee Johnson who has won all three of his games in charge, was poached from Oldham in February.
This has led the Latics to issue a statement via their official website to inform season ticket holders in the Rochdale Road Stand that they will be moved for this game to allow Barnsley supporters to have the entire stand.
Normally away supporters share this stand with home fans, giving an allocation of around 1,600 for visiting teams.
However Barnsley have been allocated the entire 3,000 holding.
At close of play today, Barnsley had sold out their initial batch of 800 tickets with another 200 ordered.
The full statement reads:
Rochdale Road stand season ticket holders will have to relocate stands for the game with Barnsley on Saturday.
The Tykes have been allocated the whole Rochdale Road stand meaning season ticket holders will have to relocate to either the Zen Office or George Hill stand.
The small section of the Rochdale Road stand will be available for disabled home fans only.
Supporters can gain access to either the Zen Office stand or George Hill lower stand by producing their season ticket book at the turnstiles.
If supporters want to sit in the upper section of the George Hill stand, they must exchange their ticket at the ticket office to gain access.
Thank you for your co-operation.
