Notts County FC and Notts County Supporter Trust have today appealed to Barnsley FC for a contribution towards the repair of damaged seats in the Kop Stand.
Both the Club and Supporters Trust have appealed to Barnsley Football Club to contribute towards the cost of repairing the recently damaged seats in the Kop stand after their fans caused substantial damage to seating.
After an afternoon of both clubs working together to raise more than £500 for Darlington FC - who are struggling against administration - a minority of Barnsley fans caused over an estimated £1,000 worth of damage to seating in the away stand at Meadow Lane during the Division Two clash between the two sides on Saturday January 31st and Notts now believe that Barnsley should contribute towards the cost of repair.
"The events clearly showed the two sides of football," said Trust Chairman David Hindley.
”While supporters came together to raise much-needed cash to help Darlington, a small minority of the Barnsley contingent decided to smash up seats and leave Notts with the bill.
"Our argument is not with the vast majority of Barnsley fans, who I imagine are fairly fed up with their reputation being tarnished in this way.
"But it is unacceptable that Notts County have to be the ones to pay out.
"We hope Barnsley FC will do the right thing and take responsibility for the actions of their supporters."
The Football League says such incidents fall outside of their regulations.
