Interesting Stats:
It is that long ago that Barnsley travelled to Meadow Lane, that two of the players on the pitch for the Reds the last time they played there, Garry Monk and Alex Neil now have a combined 141 games of MANAGEMENT under their belts!
Barnsley have a strong record there having won 12 of 32 and having only lost 15, less than half.
The last two clashes at Meadow Lane have ended in draws, as have four of the last six home or away.
The Reds have failed to win any of those six; their last victory over the Magpies came in this month, 20 years ago. Brendan O’Connell, Andy Liddell and a certain Danny Wilson scored in a 3-1 away win on April Fools Day 1995.
That is Barnsley’s only win in the past 11 meetings.
In those 11 clashes County have scored three times on four separate occasions, but there has also been three goal-less draws.
There has been three post 85th minute goals in the last six meetings.
Barnsley need three more goals to reach 100 v Notts County, whilst County are five off a century against Barnsley.
Back in October, Notts County came from 2-0 down at Oakwell to win 3-2, it was their fifth successive victory, extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches and left them sitting pretty in the top six.
It has been nothing short of a disaster since then with the Nottinghamshire outfit crumbling, winning just five of 28 since that win in South Yorkshire.
That has seen County drop to third from bottom in League One, a point adrift of safety.
This run saw them axe manager Shaun Derry in March following a run of nine defeats in 12, but they have yet to win since his departure, firstly under the caretaker ship of former Reds boss Paul Hart and then their new full time manager, Dutchman Ricardo Moniz who drew his first match in charge at the weekend, 1-1 at relegated Yeovil.
To avoid joining the Glovers in League Two next season County will need to arrest their form in the final five matches.
Their home form has been the biggest cause of concern this season, with County losing 11 times in front of their own supporters, only Colchester have lost more home games (12)
County have netted only 20 home goals, only Doncaster and Yeovil have scored less
Both Notts County and Barnsley have identical records in their last six matches, drawing four, losing two whilst scoring five and conceding nine.
County themselves have drawn each of their past four matches and have gone eight matches since their last home win.
As mentioned before they have won only five of their last 28 matches, four of those by a 1-0 score line and only ONE of those victories has come at Meadow Lane.
Their total of four home wins is the joint lowest in League One and only Championship side Wigan (2) have won fewer home matches this season.
Overall Notts County have won 11 of their 41 league games this season, seven of those arrived in their first 14 matches.
