Team News:

Well here we are again! It does not seem two minutes since Barnsley signed off the 2010-2011 campaign with a 1-0 home win over Millwall, but we are on the eve of a new season, and a lot has changed! Mark Robins has departed as manager so the new team of Keith Hill and David Flitcroft are preparing for their first competitive game at Barnsley and they bring eight new signings with them. All eight- Rob Edwards, Scott Wiseman, Matty Done, David Perkins, Jim McNulty, Miles Addison, Ricardo Vaz Te and Craig Davies are all expected to feature at the City Ground, with only ex Forest man Andy Gray unavailable through injury. Goal-keeper Luke Steele will hope to have overcome a knock that forced him to miss the 5-0 friendly win over Scunthorpe last weekend. Hill is likely to make a few changes from the side that routed the Iron. Vaz Te and Davies- who hit 25 goals in Chesterfield’s League Two title winning campaign last season- are expected to be the season’s opening strike force.

Likely Lineup:

Luke Steele

Jay McEveley

Rob Edwards

Bobby Hassell

Jim McNulty

Matty Done

Nathan Doyle

David Perkins

Danny Haynes

Craig Davies

Ricardo Vaz Te

Interesting Stats:

Both sides are under new management for the 2011-2012 season. Keith Hill has replaced Mark Robins at Oakwell whilst former England boss Steve McClaren is the new man at the City Ground, replacing Billy Davies who was sacked in the summer after a second successive play-off failure.

If Forest win tomorrow, it will mean both sides will have won 27 meetings apiece, whilst one more goal for Barnsley will be their 100th against Forest.

Barnsley are looking for their first win at the City Ground since January 2006, and have lost two of the last three. They were desperately close to victory on the first day of 2011, but threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2. They also have a derisory record of just one win from their last 12 trips.

Both sides have miserable recent opening day records. Forest have not won their first match of the season since a 1-0 home win over Bradford in 2006- they have drawn three of the last four 0-0! Barnsley have to go back a further year for their last opening day success, a 2-0 home win over Swindon on the opening day of that glorious promotion campaign of 2005-2006. In fact Forest have failed to win any of their opening two games since 2006-2007!
