Former Barnsley loanee Lewin Nyatanga has been linked with a return to the club following his release from relegated Bristol City.

The 24-year-old enjoyed three loan spells at Oakwell between 2007 and 2008 after moving from Derby and ended up making 51 appearances for the Reds, scoring twice in total.

He joined Bristol City in 2009 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Robins before being released this summer after failing to agree terms with the League One bound side.

The Welsh international, who has earned 34 caps for his country, scored Bristol City's fourth goal in the Reds 5-3 defeat at Ashton Gate in February.

Meanwhile, Barnsley's home clash with South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday has been moved forward to 12:15pm on Saturday 26th October for live Sky coverage.

Last season's encounter at Oakwell also took place live on Sky, with the Reds slipping to a 1-0 defeat thanks to a Chris O'Grady strike for the Owls.

In other news, former Barnsley winger Matt Done has linked back up with Keith Hill after signing a one-year deal with Rochdale today. Done made 44 appearances for the Reds after joining from Dale in 2011, but was deemed surplus to requirements by David Flitcroft. He spent the last three months of the season north of the border on loan with SPL side Hibernian.

Also, former Reds target Michael Higdon has opted to join Dutch side NEC Nijmegen. The 29-year-old had been offered a deal to join Barnsley, but has decided to move abroad.
