The Reds have today clinched their first signing of the summer with the expected capture of Motherwell winger Jim O'Brien.
O'Brien, 22, has agreed pre-contract terms with the Reds and will join the club on June 1.
The Irishman was including in the Scottish PFA Team of the Year and appeared in Motherwell's incredible 6-6 draw with Hibernian on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, defender Darren Moore has agreed to team up with his old teammate Paul Peschisolido, now manager of League Two side Burton Albion.
I think I speak for every Barnsley fan when I say good luck Darren, you are a true professional and all the best.
Also definitely leaving will be deceitful striker Daniel Bogdanovic who yesterday claimed he was speaking with Sheffield United and pronounced he would be "the happiest man in the world" if he moved there.
Reds boss Mark Robins said:
"We will not be playing second fiddle to any club when it comes to signing players.
"We want players here who want to play for Barnsley and give 100 per cent commitment. We don't want to have a situation where we become a fall back option whilst players look at other clubs."
