Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi could finally have an escape route out of Oakwell with a loan move to League One Hartlepool United.
Odejayi- despite writing his name into Barnsley folklore with the FA Cup winner against Chelsea- has become a scapegoat for the fans frustrations over his one and a half seasons at Oakwell since arriving from Cheltenham for £200,000.
The 26 year old has scored just five times in 70 appearances (36 of those from the bench) and has hit just one goal this season. He has also missed sitters against Southampton last season and Burnley this season, but the one gaffe that Reds fans have refused to forgive him for is the glaring miss against Cardiff at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi-Finals.
Last week Reds boss Simon Davey admitted it might be in the striker's best interest to move if somebody came in for him, and that appears to be Hartlepool's ex Sheffield Wednesday boss Chris Turner who said:
'There might be something happening in the next 24 to 48 hours.''
''It's a player in the Championship who we have been pursuing for a couple of weeks.'
