Barnsley have been dealt a blow with the news winger John O’Sullivan will return to parent club Blackburn Rovers after this weekend’s clash with fellow top six side Preston.
The 21 year old Irishman has been in great form since arriving at Oakwell in February and has proved something of a lucky charm with The Reds winning six and drawing one of the seven games in which he has featured.
His original loan spell ends after this weekend’s matches, and Barnsley Head Coach Lee Johnson was hopeful of extending the deal but Rovers manager Gary Bowyer today told local media that this will not be possible as Blackburn need him back due to missing EIGHT first team players due to injury.
O’Sullivan tweeted ahead of this weekend’s clashes:
“Football is a funny game sometimes, if Saturday is my last game at Barnsley I will work my hardest to make sure I leave with a win #3pts”
