Barnsley have made their first signing of the summer with the free transfer capture of goalkeeper Adam Davies from local rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
The 21 year old came through the ranks at Premier League side Everton before moving to Hillsborough where he worked with The Reds current goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley.
Davies has penned a two year deal at Oakwell and told the club’s official website:
"I can't wait to get back to training and for the season to start,"
"I worked with Mark Crossley for a few months at Sheffield Wednesday. He is a really good coach and I'll be in good hands here."
"I started off at Everton when I was 14 and spent five or six years there before moving to Sheffield Wednesday. Hopefully this is the start of a new chapter for me at Barnsley.
"I've worked with some top goalkeepers in Tim Howard and Chris Kirkland who were very good with me.
"I'm not here to sit and watch, but I'm here to give Luke Steele a lot of competition over the season and play games."
This move casts doubt on the future of Wales Under 21 stopper Christian Dibble.
The 20 year old has failed to make an appearance since arriving from Bury last summer.
