Barnsley’s latest teen sensation Paul Digby has earned a call up to the England Under 19 squad, exactly a year after John Stones got the same call.

Defender Stones ended up earning a £3m January move to Premier League Everton and played for the England Under 21’s in their 6-0 drubbing of Scotland on Tuesday.

Now it seems midfielder Digby could be set to make the same rise.

The 18 year old who made his Reds debut on the 10th March 2012 in a 2-0 defeat at Southampton has shone in his five appearances for the Reds despite missing the whole of 2012-2013 with a knee injury.

Digby comes into the England squad for their match with Estonia on Saturday 5th September.

“Diggers” told the club’s official website:

"I'm thrilled and feel extremely honoured to have been selected to play for my country. It's every boy's dream and something I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity and can't wait to play alongside England's best. After watching Stonesy the other night and seeing how much he's improved and how well he's progressed through the England age groups in such a short space of time, it gives me great inspiration to want to do well. I'm going to enjoy the experience and make the most of it."
