The perils of international football have struck Barnsley Football Club with the news Marcus Pedersen could miss the club’s next five matches after suffering an ankle injury playing for Norway last night.
The 23 year old who joined the Reds on a season long loan from Vitesse Arnhem in August netted his first goal for the club in the 2-1 win over Huddersfield last weekend and made his first ever start for his country in their 2-0 defeat to Switzerland but was carried off after just 22 minutes after taking a hefty tackle on his ankle.
It has now been confirmed that the injury required four stitches and according to the Norwegian team doctor, Pedersen could be sidelined for two to three weeks ruling him out of games against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Watford, Leicester and possibly Reading and QPR.
