Potter Out For Six Weeks

Barnsley have been dealt another defensive blow with the news Luke Potter will be out for around six weeks after tearing a meniscus in his knee. The Reds are already struggling at the back with Bobby Hassell injured and Darren Moore carrying a long standing foot problem and now the situation has been made worse by Potter's injury.

Reds boss Simon Davey has now hinted he may have to delve into the loan market. He told Barnsley Player:

"Luke has suffered a torn meniscus in his knee which is a big blow for him and everybody else. I thought he had an excellent game on Tuesday night but afterwards his knee swelled up badly.

"He will go to see a specialist later this week and will be out for up to six week after his operation.

"Bobby Hassell is still struggling for the weekend and we do have a doubt again over Darren Moore. We will have a look at things in the next 24-hours and could be forced to go into the loan market".

Some good news has arrived though after O'Neil Thompson finally gained his international clearance and is available to play against Reading at the weekend.

Davey added:

"We have had some good news today as O'Neil has had his work permit application granted and everything has come through this morning.

"We are now pushing the paperwork through although we have to wait for international clearance again. Hopefully that will not take too long".
