Reds defender Luke Potter has been available for loan as he battles to regain match fitness following the second medial ligament operation of his short career.
The 22 year old who came through the ranks at Oakwell and made his first team debut in the final game of the 2006-2007 season has been blighted by injuries in the last year and made just four appearances under Mark Robins last season- the last of which was a 2-0 home defeat to Leicester on the 6th November when he suffered a small knee injury that required surgery. The Barnsley born full back or centre back who has enjoyed loan spells at Kettering and Stafford Rangers then suffered the devastating medial knee ligament injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Boss Keith Hill told the Star:
“Luke needs to play some games because he’s been out injured for a long time. I’ve only seen him train since he’s come, so going out loan should be good for him. There’s the initial high of starting training again, but then there’s a prolonged low because of the muscle recovery which is needed.”
