Reds boss Simon Davey will go with what he has got for the Championship run-in after the loan deadline passed at 5pm yesterday with no new arrivals. Davey signed three players on loan in the January transfer window- Michael Mifsud, Andranik Teymourian and Adam Hammill- and had hinted at taking a defender on loan, but before the deadline he told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"There is nothing happening. Nobody will be coming in or going out. It is going to be a quiet one".
There were some interesting deals involving Championship clubs however. Next Saturday's opponents Nottingham Forest signed striker Dexter Blackstock from QPR, Blackpool brought in Oldham's Lee Hughes and Plymouth's Simon Walton, Doncaster signed Newcastle's Kazenga LuaLua and Manchester United's Gary Woods. Meanwhile Preston signed Watford's former Barnsley target Lee Williamson and Watford signed Andrei Stepanov.
