Reading have handed care-taker manager Brian McDermott the job on a permanent basis, just in time for Barnsley’s visit this weekend.
McDermott has been in care-taker charge of Reading since the sacking of Brendan Rogers on the 16th December, and although he is yet to guide them to a league victory, the club’s former chief scout has masterminded famous FA Cup victories over Liverpool and Burnley. In the wake of the club’s 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Tuesday he was handed a 12 month rolling contract.
