The Reds are set to pull off their biggest transfer coup in years with Egyptian striker Mido poised to join Keith Hill's side.
The former Spurs man will sign for Barnsley on Monday subject to passing a medical.
The 29-year-old left Zamalek in his homeland this summer and Hill has wasted no time in approaching and seemingly signing him.
It will represent a "box office" signing for the Reds as Mido will become their second signing of the summer transfer window after winger Kelvin Etuhu.
