Reds Aim For Big-Time "Charlie"

Barnsley boss Simon Davey has broken his rule of not talking about prospective transfer targets until they have signed to reveal that he has seen a bid for Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam turned down.
Reds supporters have been getting restless at the perceived lack of transfer activity so far at Oakwell with reinforcements desperately needed and this is has led to Davey to break his usual silence on bids.
Adam signed for the Glasgow giants in 2004 and has netted 18 times in 89 appearances but he has been farmed out on loan to Ross County, St Mirren and last season Blackpool where he made 13 starts including in the Tangerines 1-0 win at Oakwell in March.
Blackpool are also keen to recruit the 23 year old but it is Barnsley who have tabled an unsuccessful bid.
Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"He did very well at Blackpool, played very well against us. What he would bring to the squad is a winning mentality,"
"They turned the bid down and there's a price we won't go over so we have to find the right price."
