Barnsley and Swansea will meet in a cup competition for the second successive season after they were drawn together in the Second Round of the Capital One Cup this lunchtime.
The game will be played at the Swans Liberty Stadium ground, where Barnsley are yet to taste victory in three visits.
The two sides were drawn together in the Third Round of the FA Cup last season with Swansea triumphing 4-2 at Oakwell. Indeed, the Welsh side are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings with the Reds… well as long as the game lasts 90 minutes! The only time The Reds have triumphed since a 3-2 win in 1983, was the League One Play-Off Final of 2005-2006 when they won 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
This will be the second time they have met in the League Cup. The previous tie was a two-legged affair in the Second Round of the 1981-1982 season. After despatching of Peterborough 9-2 on aggregate in the First Round, The Reds defeated Swansea 2-0 at Oakwell, and despite losing 3-2 at the Vetch Field progressed 4-3 on aggregate.
The furthest Swansea have ever progressed in the League Cup is the Fourth Round.
The tie will take place in the week commencing the 27th August 2012.
