Leroy Lita has joined Barnsley’s League One rivals Notts County on loan.
The 30 year old arrived at Oakwell in the summer to much fanfare after a career in which he had bagged 93 goals in 320 games and things started off brilliantly for him in South Yorkshire scoring in each of his first two league appearances.
That however is as good as it has got for the former Bristol City, Reading and Middlesbrough hitman and he has failed to score again in 21 games.
With new Reds boss Lee Johnson having George Waring, Milan Lalkovic, Kane Hemmings, Rhys Oates and the finally fit again Sam Winnall at his disposal, he has decided to allow Lita to make a short term move from the club and he will stay at Meadow Lane for the remainder of the season.
Notts County who are managed by ex Sheffield United and Leeds midfielder Shaun Derry started the season in fine form and looked a good bet for a play-off place in mid October.
They are now at the bottom of the League One form table however and have lost six of their last seven league games to sit just three points off the relegation zone.
