Barnsley have been rebuffed in their bid to bring local lad Mark Beevers back to the town.
The 21 year was born in Penistone but has spent his entire career down the road at Sheffield Wednesday, making his debut for the Owls as a 17 year old in 2007. The former England U19 international has flourished at Hillsborough making over 100 appearances including 34 as the Owls struggled in League One last season.
Reds boss Keith Hill was suitably impressed with how Beevers performed when his Rochdale side were defeated 2-0 at Hillsborough in November and had hoped to bring him to Oakwell.
Wednesday though have rebuffed the Reds efforts stating Beevers is not for sale unless a ridiculous offer was made.
Hill has has more look elsewhere however as the club today confirmed the signings of Scott Wiseman, Matty Done, Jim McNulty and Miles Addison, with the latter signing a six month loan deal from Derby.
