Barnsley have once again gone down the young loan route by signing Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney for 28 days.
The 19 year old made his Premier League debut for the Magpies during the 2-2 draw with Chelsea back in September which followed two Capital One Cup appearances this season.
It is during a three-year loan spell at League Two Northampton where Toney has so far really made his name bagging 13 goals in 29 starts including 10 last season.
Reds head coach Lee Johnson told the club’s official website:
“Ivan is quick and he’s a goal-threat. He’s just what we need in the final third and he’s very highly thought of at Newcastle. I’m really pleased Steve McClaren and Newcastle have allowed us to take Ivan on board.
"He has lots of different attributes in his locker and can score different types of goals. We’re all excited to have him in the dressing room because he can be add that bit of quality in the final third.”
