Barnsley have had a bid for Carlisle United's midfield star Kyle Dempsey rejected by the League Two outfit according to reports in Cumbria.
The 19-year-old was subject of a bid from the Reds in the January transfer window, which was also knocked back by Carlisle, but they have returned with a second offer, believed to be around £300,000.
Conflicting reports on Twitter suggest a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, with a fixed fee clause in Dempsey's contract having been met by Barnsley. The same report says a Championship club is also hoping to hijack the deal.
A Cumbria based journalist has however quashed this particular report, tweeting:

Couple of reports floating around that Barnsley and Carlisle have now agreed a fee for Dempsey. Am told by #cufc that this is NOT the case.

Dempsey is a central midfielder who progressed through the academy at Carlisle United, and has made 47 appearances for the Brunton Park side, scoring 11 goals.
In other news, the club have confirmed that the new Puma away shirt will be unveiled tomorrow at 5pm. This has broken the usual tradition of the club releasing the away shirt at the annual open day.
